Math: Money, Addition, Subtraction
We’ve been using money to solve 3 digit addition and subtraction problems. These problems can have “un-grouping” what you would call borrowing or “regrouping” that is also called carrying. Your child should be able to identify and know the value of the following: a dollar bill, 5 dollar bill, quarter, dime, nickel and penny. If they don’t, please provide some extra practice at home.
Reading and Writing
We have been reading biographies. Ask your child what interesting people they have learned about. We are also beginning to write our own autobiographies this week!
Birds
We are observing the Decorah Bald Eagles and the Cornell Lab of Ornithology nesting cameras. The students love it! You can find them here:

Technology
Students continue to improve their use of technology by using iPads almost daily in class. They are using Reflex Math and some are using Moby Max also. Several students have already made short how to movies with iMovie and the rest of the class is working on theirs. Please join us on Seesaw with the invitation I sent home or by reading the following and signing up.
This year we're going to use a new tool to share what we're learning in class called Seesaw. Your child will have his or her own learning journal, and you can get notified when your child adds new items. It's completely private -- only you can see your child's journal outside of class. Click on https://app.seesaw.me/s/722-420-517 to sign up -- it takes just 30 seconds. Once you sign up, you can download the Seesaw Parent app for iPhone or Android, or access your child's journal on the web. Thanks! P.S. If you have more than one child using Seesaw, or have used Seesaw before, sign in and click on your profile icon > + Add Child to add this year's journal.
