Parent Resources
The Springfield Public Library has countless books to read aloud to your child and the wonderful professionals there can help children find books they can read independently! They also host a variety of fun educational activities throughout the year. Check out their children's event calendar here: http://wheremindsgrow.org/kids.html

Read Aloud Handbook: http://www.trelease-on-reading.com/
This is one of my favorite books! Jim Trelease shares with you why reading aloud to your child is so important (even if they can already read), what works best with different age ranges, and how to make read aloud time most enjoyable. The second half of the book is a bibliography of great read-alouds. Riverbend Family Center has a few previous editions to check out if you want to check one out. It is very inspiring, I hope you take some time to read it! |

Here are a couple of great videos about reading. One is about getting your child to be a reader and the other is about how to pick a "just right book." |
